While We would like to say that Columbia Chocolates is what put Astoria,
Oregon on the map, it really was the fur trade established by John Jacob
Astor in 1811 that takes the credit.
Columbia Chocolates today is part of a family of businesses that go back more than 50 years and include office equipment and furniture, stationery and gifts and a Hallmark store (visit our web site at www.abeco.net for more information). The Columbia Chocolates store started in Seaside, Oregon and later moved to Astoria, Oregon where it has become a fixture with the "candy locals". In 1999 it was selected as the "Best Candy Store" in Clatsop County. All of our chocolate candy is hand made using receipts that go back 35 years incorporating the finest ingredients and produced on a limited basis. Today, with the advent of the internet, we are still producing limited quantities of our candy but to fulfill orders. We produce the candy as ordered and ship from the kitchen to our customers. So while the fur trade put Astoria on the map and the region is best known for the place that Lewis and Clark "wintered over", Columbia Chocolates is the next great discovery. |
